LAWYERS CONNECTS FOR JUSTICE

A Collective Legal Movement to Defend the Constitution of India
Mission

Lawyers Connects for Justice International is a principled, non-partisan collective of advocates, jurists, legal scholars, and human rights defenders committed to the protection, preservation, and promotion of the Constitution of India.

The platform seeks to unify lawyers beyond ideology, region, or seniority, to resist systemic injustice and to restore constitutional morality in governance, investigation, prosecution, and adjudication.
National Leadership

National Director:
Simran Anthony
Advocate, Supreme Court of India
Under visionary leadership of Dr Anthony Raju Advocate Supreme Court, the organisation aims to channel legal expertise into a nationwide and international movement for justice, accountability, and constitutional supremacy.

Why This Platform Is Necessary
In recent years, India has witnessed:

Erosion of personal liberty
Weaponisation of criminal law
Normalisation of arbitrary arrest
Media-driven convictions
Decline in investigative standards

These developments strike at the heart of Articles 14, 19, 20, 21, and 22 of the Constitution. Silence of the legal fraternity is no longer an option.

Core Objectives & Focus Areas
1. Against Pre-Trial Incarceration
Pre-trial detention has become the rule rather than the exception, converting the presumption of innocence into a punishment.
We advocate:
Bail as a norm, jail as an exception
Strict enforcement of constitutional and statutory safeguards
Judicial accountability in prolonged undertrial detention

2. Against Media Trial
The transformation of newsrooms into parallel courts undermines fair trial and due process.
We seek:
Enforcement of contempt and ethical media standards
Protection of accused persons’ dignity and privacy
Judicial guidelines against prejudicial reporting

3. Against Custodial Deaths
Custodial death is not merely a crime—it is a constitutional failure.
Our demands include:
Independent investigation by neutral agencies
Mandatory judicial inquiry
Criminal prosecution of erring officials
Compensation and rehabilitation for victims’ families

4. Against Custodial Torture
Torture corrodes the rule of law and invalidates the justice system itself.
We stand for:
Zero tolerance to custodial violence
Video-recorded interrogations
Immediate medical and legal access to detainees

5. Against Fake Encounters
Extra-judicial killings strike directly at Article 21.
We oppose:
“Encounter culture” glorification
Impunity in the name of national security or law and order
Lack of independent prosecution in encounter cases

6. Judicial Accountability
Judicial independence must coexist with judicial responsibility.
We propose:
Transparent accountability mechanisms
Time-bound disposal of liberty-related cases
Sensitisation to constitutional rights and human dignity

7. Police Reforms
Colonial-era policing cannot govern a constitutional democracy.
We demand:
Implementation of Supreme Court–mandated police reforms
Separation of investigation from law & order
Fixed tenure and functional autonomy with accountability

8. Mandatory Training of Police
Law enforcement must be trained not just in power, but in constitutional restraint.

We support:
Continuous legal and human rights education
Training in forensic science, cybercrime, and modern investigation
Sensitisation on gender, children, minorities, and vulnerable groups

9. Mandatory Examination & Certification for Investigating Officers (IOs)
Investigation is a specialised constitutional function, not a routine posting.

We propose:
National-level qualifying examination for IOs
Periodic re-certification
Removal of untrained or incompetent officers from investigation

10. Accountability of Investigating Officers
Misuse of law, fabricated evidence, and biased investigations must invite consequences.

We call for:
Personal liability of IOs for illegal arrests and false cases
Departmental and criminal action for malicious prosecution
Compensation for victims of wrongful investigation

11. Against Arbitrary Arrests
Arrest has become a tool of harassment rather than necessity.

We insist on:
Strict compliance with arrest guidelines and reasons recording
Judicial scrutiny at the earliest stage
Penalties for illegal deprivation of liberty

12. Protection of Constitutional Lawyers
Lawyers defending unpopular causes or accused persons are increasingly targeted.

We stand for:
Protection of advocates from intimidation and vilification
Freedom of the Bar to defend without fear
Recognition of advocacy as a constitutional duty

13. Strengthening the Criminal Justice System
Justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done.

We work towards:
Speedy trials
Scientific investigation
Victim rights without compromising accused rights

14. Constitutional Awareness & Legal Literacy
A constitution survives only when citizens understand it.

We promote:
Public legal education
Youth and law student engagement
Grassroots constitutional awareness campaigns

Call to the Legal Fraternity
This is a call to conscience for:
Senior Advocates
Young Lawyers
Law Teachers & Scholars
Retired Judges & Jurists
Human Rights Defenders
To rise above individual practice, personal gain, or political pressure—and stand together to defend the Constitution of India.

Conclusion
Lawyers Connects for Justice International is not merely an organisation—it is a constitutional movement.

A movement where the law regains its moral authority, liberty is not negotiable, and justice is not selective.

When institutions falter, it is the duty of lawyers to stand as the last sentinels of the Constitution.

Lawyers Connects for Justice International functions as a dedicated and empowered wing of AICHLS (All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice), operating under the unshaken, principled, and visionary leadership of
Dr Anthony Raju,
Advocate, Supreme Court of India
Chairman, Indian National Human Rights Protection Council
This wing has been constituted to strengthen the constitutional mandate of AICHLS by focusing specifically on systemic criminal justice failures, abuse of state power, and erosion of fundamental rights.

Role of the AICHLS Wing
As an institutional wing of AICHLS, Lawyers Connects for Justice International shall:

Act as a national and international legal pressure group for constitutional compliance

Provide structured legal resistance against arbitrary state action

Mobilise lawyers to intervene in matters involving liberty, dignity, and due process

Function as a think tank and action forum for police, prison, and judicial reforms

Engage with courts, commissions, legislatures, and civil society to restore rule of law

This wing embodies the conviction that human rights without enforcement are illusory, and constitutional rights without courageous lawyers are fragile.

Leadership Philosophy
Under the leadership of Dr. Anthony Raju, this initiative draws its strength from:

Constitutional morality over convenience

Rule of law over rule by force
Accountability over authority
Justice over expediency

The leadership stands firm against:
Institutional silence

Selective application of law
Normalisation of injustice
Institutional Identity Statement

This wing of AICHLS is committed to defending the Constitution of India not as a document of power, but as a charter of liberty—where every arrest must be justified, every investigation must be fair, and every human life must be treated with dignity.
